Scotland Run Wedding Photos

These are all of my favorite wedding photo locations at Scotland Run.

If you are shopping around for a wedding venue, I know that you have a lot of options. Scotland Run Golf Club in Williamstown NJ is one of my favorite wedding venues in South Jersey. I’m going to go through the best parts of the venue so you can see why it’s so special. We will walk through some of my wedding photos to show you the different locations at the venue.

Outdoor photo locations.

The Entrance.

Scotland Run prides itself on having extreme attention to detail when it comes to the entrance and the grounds. They hire the services of a horticulturist to maintain the beautiful gardens. There is a very high archway made of stone that opens up the to parking lot. When you walk through it, there is a covering for guests to enter the building so they don’t get wet in the rain. It makes a perfect drop off spot for guests and vendors. Once you get to the main door, there is a covered stone porch that wraps around to the left. Once you make it around the side of the building, the porch leads you to the golf store and veranda in the back. That front covered area is really great for bridal portraits or sparkler exits, especially if it’s raining. I like to use this area when it’s raining because you still get to see the pretty stone work and lots of the flora. Check out these photos of the front of the building.

The Back Patio.

On the first floor in the back of the building is the back patio. I don’t use this space often, but it works great in a pinch. I’ve used it for first looks, letter readings, and portraits. This space is outside dining for the restaurant, but I don’t believe it’s used often by guests at the restaurant.

The Pergola

Behind the main building is the golf course and the covered outside ceremony area. To get to the ceremony area, there is a beautiful stone pathway. At its entrance there is a beautiful pergola surrounded by flowers, vines, and flora. It looks beautiful at every time of the year in my opinion. This is the path that the bride walks down to meet her groom for their ceremony, but I use this location for first looks and portraits also.

The Ceremony Pavilion.

After you walk down the stone pathway, you come to the covered ceremony area, the pavilion. I love the ceremony pavilion at Scotland Run. Everything about it is so unique. It has an elegant look to it, but it definitely retains a very relaxed atmosphere. The pavilion holds up to 250 people. On a cold day, they have heaters that spread throughout the audience to keep everyone warm. The sides of the pavilion have roll down walls too. This is such a great feature. On windy, rainy, or cold days, the walls help make the area comfortable for your guests, but on other days they can be removed to let the gentle breeze blow in. As you can see in the pictures below, the ceremony itself takes place under an attached gazebo. It’s beautiful how they laid out everything. Then, off to the right side is a nice grassy area that I use for portraits, family pictures and bridal party pictures. Off to the left side is a pretty goldfish pond that I have used to take portraits as well.

The Golf Course

Scotland Run is a beautiful golf course. Even in the winter you’ll love the photos on the green. They have 18 holes with water features between the rolling hills. The sky is big and open, and the sunsets over the building are epic. Whether you just want to walk a short distance for photos or take a golf cart ride into the sunset, you can have amazing photos on the grass.

Inside Photo Locations

Most of the first floor of the building serves the golfing clients and the Highlander Pub and Grill, but there a two spots that you can use for your wedding photos.

The Locker Room

The locker room is big and clean. I’ve photographed many groomsmen horsing around in there while getting ready for the wedding. It’s an easy choice for a getting ready location.

The Bar

The bar is a great spot for the bridal party and family to relax before the festivities start.

The Bridal Suite

The second floor is used entirely for weddings and events. In the foyer you will find the restrooms, coat check, a sitting area, and the bridal suite. The bridal suite is a nice private room for hair and makeup, getting dressed, and freshening up. It also opens into the women’s bathroom.

The Ottinger Conservatory

After the ceremony, guests will make their way up to the conservatory on the second floor for cocktail hour. But earlier in the day, this is one my favorite spots for photos. You can have your first look, card reading, even lace up your dress in there. It’s a stunning room with lots of window light. It even opens up onto the balcony that spans the width of the ballroom. I’ve taken some of my favorite photos in there, including when Emily’s father saw her in her dress for the first time.

The Ballroom

The ballroom is very big, but the way that its laid out makes it feel big enough, but you don’t get lost either. It’s very long, which is really ideal for weddings. Let’s say you have the max amount of guests, 230. There will still be room for all of the stations that you need, i.e. Photo Booth, bars, desert station, cigar bar, etc. On the other hand, if you have have 100 guests the ends of the room might get unused, but your guests are so far spread out that the room doesn’t feel too large. It is really perfect in that way. I would describe the style of the ball room as rustic, relaxed, and elegant.
